“Brain science and the advent of imaging technology
have made it clear just how embodied the mind is.”
My therapeutic approach is based on an existential-phenomenological, humanistic, psychoanalytic, and feminist approach. It involves reflective listening and dialogue to understand with you how your history, as well as larger social-cultural forces, influence your present experience. I work to mirror back to you aspects of yourself which may be unclear or that may hold important but unacknowledged wisdom and insight. In addition, I may use specific therapeutic interventions such as resourcing-in from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Lifespan Integration (LI); guided visualization; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills (DBT) of emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness; and mindfulness practices.
